More Area Students Honored in College
Jun 11, 2010 – Augusta Hahnel, a resident of New Gloucester, ME, has been named to the Dean's List for the 2010 spring semester at Mount Ida College in Newton, Massachusetts. Augusta is one of 379 students honored for outstanding academic achievement by being named to the Dean's List. To make the Dean's List, students must have a grade point average of 3.33 or above.
Jannika J Coons from Gray graduated with a Bachelor of Business Admin. from Pace University this year. Over 3,600 Pace University students graduated in four ceremonies in May. Influential leaders in environmental affairs, financial media, corporate information technology, and the psychology of women and gender studies were this year's commencement speakers at Pace University. Graduates received advice from honorary degree recipients such as US EPA Administrator Lisa P. Jackson, personal finance columnist Jane Bryant Quinn, business IT authority Naomi Seligman, and pioneer social psychologist Florence Denmark.
At the University of New Hampshire during Commencement Ceremony held on Saturday, May 22, 2010, in Durham, Bria Lynne Pollard of Gray earned a BSCIVE degree in Civil Engineering and Ian Patrick Hanley of Raymond earned a BS degree in Wildlife Ecology, Cum Laude.
Some 2,411 students were awarded a variety of bachelor's and advanced degrees during the University of Vermont's 206th Commencement ceremonies on May 23. Kerrie L. Keller of Gray, ME, received a Bachelor of Arts in English, and Samantha R. Foster of Gray, ME, received a Master of Science in Cell & Molecular Biology.
Several local residents earned graduate degrees through the Graduate & Professional Studies division at Saint Joseph's College of Maine, which offers online education for working adults. Robert Dorr of North Yarmouth, received a Master of Business Administration. Joel Rouillard of New Gloucester, earned a Master of Business Administration. Lynne Estey of Raymond, received her Master of Science in Education. And Colleen Henry of New Gloucester, her Master of Science in Education.
There were also several undergraduate degree recipients through the Graduate & Professional Studies division at Saint Joseph's College. Austin Baker of Raymond, earned a Bachelor of Science in General Studies. Joseph Dahms of Raymond, received Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. And Barbara Foster of Gray, received her Bachelor of Science in Long Term Care Administration, summa cum laude.
Teal Bryan, daughter of Winty and John Bryan of North Yarmouth was named to the Dean's List for the Spring 2010 semester at Saint Michael's College. Bryan is a Junior Elementary Education and Psychology major at the liberal arts, residential Catholic college located in Burlington, Vermont, one of America's best college towns. Students who complete a minimum of 12 credits and achieve a grade point average of at least 3.4 at the end of a semester are recognized for their scholarship by inclusion on the Dean's List. Bryan graduated from Greely High School before coming to Saint Michael's.
And finally, Ernest A. Silver, Professor and Chair of the Department of Management at Curry College, is pleased to announce that Paula Joy Arlaud of Gray, ME was inducted into the Management Honor Society Sigma Beta Delta. The induction ceremony and dinner took place on March 25, 2010 at Curry College's Milton Campus. The 19 inductees were joined by their family and friends, Sigma Beta Delta chapter members, the Management Department faculty and the Administration. Junior and senior Management majors who have earned at least 60 credits from Curry and have a GPA of 3.4 or higher are eligible to join Sigma Beta Delta. Each inductee received a certificate and pin and will receive an honor cord to be worn at graduation.
