Efficiency Maine Offers Maine Homeowners Incentives To Install Energy Efficient Equipment

Augusta, ME, June 1, 2010 - Efficiency Maine, a program of the Maine Public Utilities Commission, is offering a limited number of incentives to Maine homeowners who install new, high efficiency ENERGY STAR® equipment in their homes. Eligible products include gas and oil boilers and furnaces, air source and electric heat pumps, central air conditioners and tankless gas water heaters.

³Consumers want the most efficient options possible when they need to replace equipment and this program provides an incentive to work with local companies to find those products,² says Jamie Py, President of the Maine Energy Marketers Association.

Under the new Replacement Heating Equipment Program, homeowners must remove a similar piece of equipment and replace it with a new ENERGY STAR® rated, efficient unit. The program offers incentives of $100-$300 on a first come, first approved basis. Incentives are only available while funds last.
Homeowners are encouraged to act quickly.

John Brautigam, Director of Efficiency Maine explains, "This is one of several Efficiency Maine residential programs offering homeowners specific ways to save energy and money while making a positive impact on the environment. We encourage Mainers to take advantage of these timely programs.²

To be eligible homeowners must be year round residents of Maine living in a single family home. Applicants follow a simple three-step process, including working with their contractor to identify the product that best fits their needs and the requirements necessary to receive an incentive, submitting an application online to reserve an incentive, and providing proof of completion.
