Depot Road Rail Crossing
• CAUTION!!
To the Editor,
"Ah ha, there's the culprit" I said to Bill as we tenderly crossed the rail tracks on Depot Road this morning. "PanAm/Guilford Train is repairing the tracks in an effort to raise the speed of their trains from 5 to 6 miles per hour." If you've driven down the hill and across the tracks in the last couple of weeks I hope you've noticed the suspension and tire killing condition of this crossing. If you haven't noticed, get off the Blackberry and drive.
Anyway, I called Steve at Public Works and although it's a state road the calls and Emails have been coming on a regular basis. He asked me to call the state office in Scarborough and voice my opinion. I did, leaving a message for Tim Kusak (not sure of the spelling on that one).
If Guilford wanted to tear up the road, as is necessary for repairs, couldn't they have done it in the summer when asphalt was available. Now we have to endure this mess until late spring or later because Guilford isn't known for spending money on maintenance and infrastructure improvements.
I've attached a few pics of the crossing.
